Live from the heart of thankfulness

We find what we seek.

When we live life, thinking about what we are unhappy about, or thinking only about what has gone wrong, we sink further and further into unhappiness, and eventually despair.

Yes, we all suffer. But whenever we think about, or talk about, what is wrong with ourselves, others, or the world, we empower our pain and we draw ourselves further into unhappiness.

Better to take our negative thoughts captive and reject them. Better to decide that every negative thought is a lie, or simply an obstacle to overcome.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34

Do This

Whenever you entertain a negative thought, decide that every negative thought is going to hurt you, so reject it and release it. Say, out loud:

I reject this negative thought.

Turn your back on the thought, and instead turn to Jesus. Pray out loud:

Jesus, what is the truth?

Jesus, help me to take every thought captive and make it obedient to You.

Turn my sorrow into praise.

Jesus, I welcome you into the deepest parts of my heart, my pain, and my sorrow. Bring your light into these places, and teach me joy and thankfulness.

Thank you Jesus.
