God created all life, so choosing God’s way is choosing life. Choosing NOT God’s way is choosing the opposite of God, or death. We call this pattern of behaviour SIN.
As Christians, it is important to be aware of our sin, so that we can turn from that behaviour back to God’s intention for us. It’s not about making people feel guilty, it’s about living a better life and being healthy.
Addictive behaviours are riddled with sin.
Sin is easily over come through confession and repentance (Forgiveness)
Some types of sin are physical, or physically inspired or physical indulgences, and can become habitual and may have a hold on us. So we need to go further and “Crucify the Flesh”, in order to deal with them.
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Take a minute and think about a sin or a sinful behaviour that you struggle with, Using your visual imagination, imagine the sin.
Say: Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me.
See your sin, imagine and / or name the sin.
Say: “Jesus, I thank you for your gift of forgiveness, and that you died for my sin, so that I can be forgiven. I place this sin on you.”
See your sin put onto Jesus’ body.
Say: “Jesus, please take my sin.”
Watch as Jesus is crucified and dies.
See Jesus being taken from the cross and being laid in the tomb, with your sin still on Him.
See Jesus resurrected. See Him coming out of the tomb.
